About the job

Role: Responsible for maintaining high-quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and visual evaluations.

Roles and responsibilities
  • Read and understand tooling work orders and follow instructions.
  • Disassemble and assemble molds correctly in a safe and timely manner.
  • Clean molds and associated details such as cavities, cores, slides, vents, guide & ejector pins, etc.
  • Work according to schedule and meet deadlines.
  • Utilize measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore micrometers, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels of components.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, including daily cleaning of machinery; keep work area organized and clean.
  • Maintain maintenance records using the company computer system.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers to troubleshoot and improve tools.
  • Work on the production floor with tools in presses to address issues and reduce downtime.
  • Work independently with clear instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school or some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or maintenance.
  • At least 3 years experience with hand-operated tool room equipment.
  • Prototype tool making and/or plastic injection processing experience preferred.
Skills and requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of mold and die components and their characteristics.
  • Ability to visually inspect tools accurately.
  • Ability to operate machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to read and interpret tooling work orders.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Physical ability to walk, bend, stand, climb, and lift extensively.
  • Attributes of alertness, precision, and methodical approach.
  • Team player capable of sharing knowledge and ideas.
  • Legal ability to work in the U.S.
