Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Tool Install Project Manager to lead planning and execution of multimillion-dollar semiconductor equipment installations that enable factory expansion, technology node transitions, and capacity growth.

You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and external contractors to safely deliver world-class manufacturing capability—ensuring excellence in safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years semiconductor manufacturing, pharma, facilities, tool installation or capital project mgmt.
  • Proven experience managing scope, schedule, cost, contractors and cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor cleanroom environments and equipment.
  • PMI PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tool installation projects from concept through production handoff.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and resources across the full lifecycle.
  • Develop integrated schedules, critical paths, and forecasts.
  • Monitor performance, spend, and risk to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support factory startups, expansions, and technology conversions.

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a tool install project manager for one of their top semiconductor clients. As a Tool Install Project Manager, you will lead the planning and execution of advanced semiconductor equipment installations that enable factory expansion, technology node transitions, and capacity growth. This role is critical to delivering multimillion-dollar capital projects that directly impact manufacturing output, product ramp schedules, and long-term business success. You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and external contractors to safely deliver world-class manufacturing capability—ensuring excellence in safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational readiness.

End-to-End Project Leadership
  • Lead semiconductor tool installation projects from concept through production handoff
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources across the full lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain integrated schedules, critical path analyses, and forecasts
  • Monitor project performance, spend, and risk to ensure successful delivery
Tool Installation & Factory Readiness
  • Oversee installation of advanced semiconductor equipment (e.g., lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, metrology, implant, wet processing, packaging, sub-fab systems)
  • Ensure cleanroom and bay readiness, utilities availability, and successful system hook-up
  • Coordinate installation sequencing and resource planning across multiple concurrent projects
Cross-Functional & Contractor Leadership
  • Partner with construction, facilities, manufacturing, process and equipment engineering teams, and vendors
  • Lead contractor selection, bid evaluations, and contract execution
  • Manage contractor performance, productivity, and compliance
Safety & Risk Management
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols including LOTO, chemical safety, high-voltage work, and rigging
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain, construction delays, utilities, and design changes
Operational Impact & Continuous Improvement
  • Support factory startups, expansions, and technology conversions
  • Enable production continuity, ramp schedules, and capacity targets
  • Capture lessons learned and drive best-known methods (BKMs) across sites
  • Manage multiple concurrent capital projects, often in the multimillion-dollar range

Salary ranges from $75,000 - 103,000 per year based on qualifications and years of experience.

Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or pharma industry, facilities, tool installation, or capital project management
  • Proven experience managing scope, schedule, cost, contractors, and cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with semiconductor cleanroom environments and manufacturing equipment
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, risk management, and tools such as Microsoft Project Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business
  • PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Experience in wafer fabrication facilities and tool install management
  • Greenfield fab startup or large-scale expansion experience
  • Track record leading capital projects exceeding $10M
  • Exposure to advanced semiconductor process technologies or global project leadership
