Job summary

Kocher + Beck USA, L.P. in Lenexa, KS is seeking a skilled Tool Grinder Operator to manufacture and regrind small precision cutting tools using ISOG CNC tool grinders.

You will ensure tools meet geometry, tolerances, and finish requirements while maintaining quality and efficient machine operation. The role reports to the Production Supervisor and involves setup, inspection, and collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve tooling and process issues.

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC equipment, precision machining, or industrial grinding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work within tight dimensional tolerances.
• Experience using precision measuring or inspection equipment.
• Basic understanding of CNC machine setup, programs, and offsets.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and accurate recordkeeping.
• Ability to work independently after training and communicate effectively with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC tool-grinding machines to manufacture and regrind precision cutting tools.
• Follow drawings, CNC programs, tool specifications, and established manufacturing procedures.
• Install the appropriate grinding wheels, fixtures, collets, and tooling.
• Make approved machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistent production.
• Measure and inspect completed tools using precision measuring and optical inspection equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance, maintain accurate production records, and perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
• Work with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve tooling, equipment, and process concerns.

Kocher + Beck USA, L.P. in Lenexa, KS is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Tool Grinder Operator to manufacture, regrind, and inspect small precision cutting tools using ISOG CNC tool grinding machines. This position is responsible for producing tools that meet specified geometry, dimensional tolerances, and finish requirements while maintaining consistent quality and efficient machine operation.

The Tool Grinder Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and works primarily with ISOG CNC tool grinding machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC tool-grinding machines to manufacture and regrind precision cutting tools.
• Follow drawings, CNC programs, tool specifications, and established manufacturing procedures.
• Install the appropriate grinding wheels, fixtures, collets, and tooling.
• Make approved machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistent production.
• Measure and inspect completed tools using precision measuring and optical inspection equipment.

Quality Responsibilities

• Complete required first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Confirm that tools meet dimensional, cutting-edge, geometry, and surface-finish requirements.
• Stop production and report concerns when quality cannot be confirmed or the process becomes unstable.
• Identify and separate nonconforming tools and assist with resolving recurring quality issues.

Requirements

• Experience with CNC equipment, precision machining, or industrial grinding.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating ISOG or Rollomatic tool-grinding machines.
• Experience manufacturing or regrinding small precision cutting tools.
• Knowledge of cutting-tool geometry and specialized materials such as carbide or CBN.
• Experience with optical inspection systems or high-precision manufacturing.

Training

Kocher + Beck will provide training on company-specific tooling, approved grinding programs, inspection standards, production systems, and safe machine operation. Operators must demonstrate the required competencies and receive authorization before operating each machine independently.
