Job summary

Fitesa in Simpsonville, SC is seeking a Tool and Die Technician to install, repair, and maintain Slitter and counter knives, dies and cassettes according to safety and maintenance protocols. This temporary role offers chance for direct hire with Fitesa.

The position pays $21-$22/hr with a Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm shift. You will perform repairs, record-keeping, and periodic rebuilds while upholding 5S standards in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• At least 1 year of machine operator, maintenance, or tooling in a manufacturing environment.
• High level of mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
• High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety procedures.
• Follow safe operation of hoists and attachments on all lines.
• Responsible for repairs, tracking, and maintenance of Slitter Knives and Counter Knives.
• Maintain Knife related records: knife tracking/inspection, parts used/replaced, etc.
• Disassemble, clean, and rebuild, with moderate repairs of the Knives and Counter Knives. Maintaining quality to meet production and quality needs.
• Follow procedures for nonconforming Knives and Counter Knives.
• Responsible for repairs, tracking and maintenance of Slitter Rewind Shafts.
• Repair and maintain Slitter Rewind Shaft (mandrels) related records: air shaft tracking, parts used/replaced, etc.
• Perform removal and installation of dies and cassettes on production lines at the direction of the Senior Support Services Technicians.
• Monitor and respond to throughput and yield upsets, which include performing die or cassette replacement.
• Maintain Pack/Knife Room equipment in good working condition according to manufacturer’s specifications including burnout oven, ultrasonic bath, pressure washer, SpinTrak inspection system, work benches, etc.and report deficiencies.
• Maintain the Pack/Knife Room and equipment according to 5S standards.
• Develop and perform best Knife/Counter Knife cleaning practices.
• Maintaining adequate stock levels of knife and air shaft repair parts

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
• Work around varying temperatures
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus
