Job summary

Silk Road Technologies Canada in Meridian, MS is seeking an experienced Tool & Die technician to support press operations, quality goals, and efficient production.

You will work under the Tool & Die Manager, maintain tooling, perform setups, assist in 8D problem solving, and ensure safety and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Tool & Die experience is required.
• Understanding of the press department and die operations.
• Basic computer skills for production systems.
• Fork truck license is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Tool & Die and press area to ensure smooth production.
• Communicate issues across functions to prevent downtime.
• Assist in achieving quality, productivity, and cost reduction goals.
• Participate in root cause analysis and 8D problem solving.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, and adherence to company policies.
• Train colleagues on policies and procedures.
• Ensure proper communication between shifts for seamless workflow.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Support the enterprise’s mission, vision, and values in performance of daily activities.
• Support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and Quality registration (ex. TS 16949, ISO 14001, TQM, etc.).
• Support press operators on HTH and SPM improvement
• Perform audits as necessary to ensure press colleagues are following proper procedure (F/O, L/O, Die setup, Die storage, Last off Q.C checks, etc.)
• Communicate any issues or concerns immediately across functions
• Assist, as required, plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals
• Participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.)
• Responsible for adhering to all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
• Maintain high level of housekeeping in the work area.
• Responsible for ensuring all policies are followed and paperwork completed properly, train other colleagues to do the same
• Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Colleague Handbook, etc.)
• Responsibility for understanding all Tool & Die functions
• Assist in overall operations of Tool & Die and press area.
• Ensure proper communication between shifts for a seamless work activity flow by priority.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS

Reports directly to the Tool and Die Manager. Interfaces on a frequent basis with Operations, Materials, Maintenance, Accounting, and Quality Assurance.Interfaces on an as needed basis with HR and IT.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3-5 Years’ Experience in Tool & Die
• Understanding of the Press Department & Tool & Die
• Basic Skills with Computer
• Fork Truck license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work 40 hours a week plus required mandatory overtime
• Ability to stand for 12 hours
• Walking, Bending, stooping, and climbing
