Briggs & Stratton, LLC. is seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and prepare die molds for production. You will perform welds, polishing, and measurements to ensure tool life and quality, while coordinating repairs with Operations and entering work orders in SAP.

A forklift certification is preferred and a HS diploma is required. Experience in tooling and blueprints, plus basic fabrication and teamwork, are essential.

Position Description

Uses advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair die molds safely and to promote quality standards.

Job Responsibilities

1. Work with and support Operations to ensure molds are production ready by preparing and/or repairing molds
2. Perform mold preventive maintenance in coordination with production scheduling to minimize in-press failures and production run interruptions.
3. Accurately use gauges, calipers, etc. to check molds, fixtures, and jig quality
4. Properly log time in/operation time and time out for each job.
5. Assist and communicate with key personnel regarding status of mold repairs
6. Perform welding and polishing as needed
7. Analyze and alter different types of tools for functional improvement and lengthening of tool life.
8. Ability to diagnose equipment problems & take appropriate corrective action
9. Enter Work orders into SAP
10. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skill Requirements

• Capable of operating machinery (including welding equipment) to manufacture tooling used in die maintenance and repair.
• Possess basic blueprint reading skills
• Basic fabrication skills
• Good teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
• Computer skills to include, but not limited to, proficiency with Windows based computer software
• Fluent in English and the primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Competencies

• Experience with TIG Welding on H13 Tool Steel

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year direct experience

Certifications Preferred

• Forklift certification required

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• May be required to lift or carry products, parts, and/or other materials of various sizes and weights. (Frequently 5 - 25 pounds), (Occasionally 25 - 75 pounds), (Rarely greater than 75 pounds)
• Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
• Ability to use power/vibrating tools over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
• Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
• Exposure to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
