MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Tool & Die Maker Trainee on the Chesterfield, Michigan manufacturing facility. In this developmental role, you'll support tooling fabrication, modification, and repair while building hands-on skills in blueprint reading, precision measurement, machining, and die assembly under supervision.

The position is on-site, 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, with pay between $18 and $20 per hour. This full-time, hourly role offers opportunities to learn and grow within a safety-focused,

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in precision machining.
• Ability to read basic prints and use measuring tools with guidance.
• Foundational understanding of machining principles.
• Willingness to learn tool and die practices.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and shop equipment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with fabrication, modification, and repair of dies and tooling components.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications with supervision.
• Support machining plans, including material selection and tooling needs.
• Measure and lay out workpieces with precision instruments and operate manual equipment under guidance.
• Assist with machining calculations and monitor equipment for out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Inspect finished components with micrometers, calipers, etc.
• Maintain 5S/Lean standards and follow safety procedures.
