Job Description

Analyze specifications and troubleshoot non-compliance issues. Set up and operate machine tools. Fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair die tools and machinery. Restore die tools and machinery to original specifications. Apply knowledge to tool and die design, including designing jigs, fixtures, and gauges for production and quality control. Demonstrate understanding of mathematics, metal properties, heat treatment, and metal usage. Possess knowledge of tool room equipment, press line equipment, process control, and die tools. Be familiar with OSHA standards applicable to stamping operations.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Analyze work orders to estimate hours and create machining schedules that meet internal and external needs.
  2. Interpret blueprints and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  3. Assist tools room machinists in repairing and adjusting machines and equipment when products do not meet standards.
  4. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production needs.
  5. Develop and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  6. Recommend changes to working conditions and equipment use to increase departmental efficiency.
  7. Maintain attendance during scheduled shifts, including working overtime as required, arriving on time, and being ready at the start of the shift.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; graduate of an accredited tool and die school with journeyman certification, or 5+ years of tool and die experience/training, or equivalent combination.
  • Language Skills: Effectively communicate work and safety issues with co-workers and management.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Broad knowledge of shop mathematics.
