Responsibilities
- Fabricate and maintain die components, interpret blueprints, and perform complex machining tasks (such as milling, engraving, and threading).
- Use precision tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and work with both manual and CNC machines.
- Read machine blueprints and assembly drawings; provide project leadership on build and repair projects as needed.
- Rebuild and maintain primary roll forming, forming and ancillary equipment throughout the plant.
- Assist production setup personnel with tooling, press machine, and roll former troubleshooting.
- Able to reverse engineer and manufacture die components within time limitations.
Qualifications
- Experience with both manual and CNC machining equipment.
- Ability to read machine blueprints and assembly drawings.
- Basic Machinist’s tool set, including calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to work well with others and provide project leadership on build and repair projects.
- Previous machine building experience is a plus.
- Willingness to work overtime when needed, including occasional weekends.
- Must be able to fabricate, repair, replace or properly install: forming or guide rolls; shafts, bushings, sprockets, chains, and power transmission components; guarding and related safety devices.
Duties And Responsibilities (Typical Day)
- Read and understand specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or written descriptions to determine materials and machines needed to fabricate parts or die components.
- Utilize tool making skills with shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision grinding, polishing, fitting) and produce parts to print.
- Perform advanced machining operations (milling, engraving, threading, boring, grinding) with accuracy and timeliness.
- Use precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, dial indicators).
- Work in small teams or independently; understand machining processes for various metals.
- Multi-task effectively and perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance of die sets, and repairs as needed.
- Support tooling, press machine, and roll former troubleshooting; rebuild and maintain tooling and equipment.
- Safely reverse engineer and manufacture die components within time limits.
