Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and maintain die components, interpret blueprints, and perform complex machining tasks (such as milling, engraving, and threading).
  • Use precision tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and work with both manual and CNC machines.
  • Read machine blueprints and assembly drawings; provide project leadership on build and repair projects as needed.
  • Rebuild and maintain primary roll forming, forming and ancillary equipment throughout the plant.
  • Assist production setup personnel with tooling, press machine, and roll former troubleshooting.
  • Able to reverse engineer and manufacture die components within time limitations.
Qualifications

  • Basic Machinist’s tool set, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to work well with others and provide project leadership on build and repair projects.
  • Previous machine building experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed, including occasional weekends.
  • Must be able to fabricate, repair, replace or properly install: forming or guide rolls; shafts, bushings, sprockets, chains, and power transmission components; guarding and related safety devices.
Duties And Responsibilities (Typical Day)
  • Read and understand specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or written descriptions to determine materials and machines needed to fabricate parts or die components.
  • Utilize tool making skills with shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision grinding, polishing, fitting) and produce parts to print.
  • Perform advanced machining operations (milling, engraving, threading, boring, grinding) with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Use precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, dial indicators).
  • Work in small teams or independently; understand machining processes for various metals.
  • Multi-task effectively and perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance of die sets, and repairs as needed.
  • Support tooling, press machine, and roll former troubleshooting; rebuild and maintain tooling and equipment.
  • Safely reverse engineer and manufacture die components within time limits.
