Job description

2nd Shift Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Tool Room Area Manager, the candidate is responsible for building, repairing, and troubleshooting tools and dies, supporting the press room during die sets, and collecting and analyzing data to improve part processing and quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Build tools and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
  2. Operate tool room machinery safely during the build process.
  3. Perform repairs on progressive dies, manually operated dies, and troubleshoot dies on the bench, making corrections as needed.
  4. Work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make necessary corrections for quality parts.
  5. Support die try-out and make ready for production after die steel or tool installations.
  6. Support press room operations by servicing die sets, troubleshooting dies, making corrections when possible with die in the press, and using SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and documentation.
  7. Interface with internal and external customers, participate in problem-solving teams, and handle customer and supplier concerns.
  8. Support MOS and safety programs, and maintain good housekeeping standards.
  9. Perform other essential functions as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Training and experience: Preferably a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a certified 4-year apprenticeship in die making and/or tool die making, or eight years of consecutive work experience in a tool/die shop building tools and dies. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
