Job description

Join to apply for the Tool & Die Maker - 2nd & 3rd Shift role at Vollrath.

This position requires the individual to be a certified journeyman in Tool and Die Making. Under general supervision, individuals will perform duties such as planning and executing all bench and machine operations. Responsibilities include prototype work, constructing or modifying production tools, and building jigs, fixtures, punches, dies, molds, gauges, templates, or patterns. All work demands a high level of skill and thorough knowledge of tool building practices.

Responsibilities
  1. Lay out work processes and sequences of operations required to fabricate specified tools.
  2. Identify necessary materials as specified for the job.
  3. Set up and operate manual machines; experience with lathes, surface grinders, and mills is required.
  4. Knowledge of CNC lathes, CNC mills, and wire EDM.
  5. Assemble dies and fixtures and perform tryout tests.
  6. Perform inspection and tryout operations for tooling and equipment.
  7. Work with complex CAD models and drawings requiring close tolerances.
  8. Use shop mathematics and handbook formulas.
  9. Use machine and hand tools to fit, assemble, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools.
  10. Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  11. Set up and operate CNC and conventional machine tools to shape parts.
  12. Finish surfaces using scrapers, abrasives, files, or grinders.
  13. Verify dimensions and clearances using measuring instruments.
  14. Study blueprints, sketches, and specifications for operation planning.
  15. Knowledge of G-Code, CAD/CAM, and programming (SolidWorks, SmartCAM, or MasterCAM is a plus).
