Job summary

Viega in McPherson, KS is seeking a Tool and Die Maker to set up and operate CNC and conventional machines to produce precision tools and dies. You will translate blueprints and CAD/CAM files, verify dimensions, and qc finished parts while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across Viega.

Qualifications include a High-School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years’ experience. Travel up to 20% (including international).

Qualifications

• Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces.
• Ability to set up, operate, and conversationally program conventional, manual, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machines and equipment.
• File, grind and adjust parts so that they fit together properly.
• Quality check completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications.
• Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies.
• Works cooperatively with Viega departments and outside vendors.
• Preparing raw materials and tools prior to machining, cutting or deburring.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Tool and Die Maker supports the Viega Machine Shop’s mission of producing precision tooling that supports our manufacturing operations. This position will set-up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments and tools of the highest quality standards. This position will regularly interact and problem solve with cross-functional team members across Viega.

• Proficient in programming and operation of CNC equipment, including 5-axis machining.
• Ability to fixture and design methods of manufacturing complex parts
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD/CAM drawings

• Ability to work independently and make competent decisions.
• Strong communication skills to facilitate understanding and problem-solving with cross-functional teams and colleagues.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

• High-School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience.

Compensation

• Base: $26.00 - $34.00 hourly, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
