Job summary

North Star Company, a premier roll forming company based in Gardena, California, seeks a Tool & Die Maker for hands-on work in our Tool Room, constructing and maintaining tooling and dies under the guidance of the Engineering lead.

The ideal candidate has a vocational/technical degree and experience as a tool and die maker, with strong knowledge of metalworking tools, blueprints, and CAD drawings. MasterCam and SolidWorks familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Vocational or technical degree in a similar field.
• Experience as a tool and die maker.
• Ability to read blueprints and design schematics.
• Extensive experience with metalworking tools including drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and operate large machinery.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of MasterCam and SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
• Designing jigs and templates as work aids in fabrication of parts.
• Measuring and marking metal stock for machining.
• Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
• Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
• Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
• Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
• Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.

North Star Company is a premier roll forming company based in Gardena, California. We are currently offering Tool & Die Maker position that will work to our facility. This is a hands-on job that requires your time spent in the Tool Room constructing and maintaining new and existing tooling and dies and following the directions of your Engineering lead.

Tool and Die Maker Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings
• Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
• Measuring and marking metal stock for machining.
