Qualifications

Job description

Overview

2nd Shift Tool & Die Maker - Design, build, maintain and repair dies, fixtures and templates according to die specifications.

Shift hours are 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm (may work until midnight or 1:00 am, when working a 9 or 10 hour shift).

Wages start at $24.62 with an $.80/hour shift premium and increases every 30 work days until you reach top pay of $32.48/hour.

Overtime is paid after 8 hours and on Saturdays.

Responsibilities
  1. Analyze design and/or repair requests prior to taking action to fully understand needed action, design, and equipment.
  2. Operate all tool room machinery (mills, drills, grinders, and lathe).
  3. Design and build tooling to produce sheet metal parts from piece part prints.
  4. Design and build fixtures for welding and other plant areas.
  5. Stick, tig, and gas weld die blocks and fixtures.
  6. Locate and use all necessary measuring equipment and spare parts.
  7. Operate all piece part, from dies, and transfer equipment in operation.
  8. Measure and validate parts made from tools and fixtures made in tool room.
  9. Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  10. Perform heat treat operations on various tool steels.
  11. Maintain and repair existing tooling.
  12. General department clean-up.
  13. Observe all safety practices & be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  14. Operate hoist.
Qualifications

Two-Year Tool & Die Certification/Degree from vocational college.
