Job summary

Array Tech, Inc. is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to build, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in our manufacturing lines. You will set up manual and CNC machines, interpret drawings and CAD data, and ensure tooling meets exact specifications to support efficient production.

You will perform precision measurements, diagnose tooling issues, and collaborate with engineers and maintenance to minimize downtime while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in toolmaking and precision machining.
  • Proficiency in manual machining and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, GD&T, and CAD drawings.
  • Strong understanding of materials, heat treatment processes, tolerances, and machining principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to work off hours to resolve issues when production is down.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, EDM machines, and surface grinders.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling issues affecting production; implement corrective actions or improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to ensure tooling supports manufacturing goals.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling to reduce downtime and extend tool life.
  • Document tooling changes, repairs, and revisions in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
