Silgan Containers in Fort Dodge, IA is seeking a Machinist – Tool & Die to operate and maintain CNC grinders, lathes, and other equipment. Starting pay is $33.35 per hour with shift differential for 3rd shift.

The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing, strong mechanical aptitude, and blueprints-based work. You will inspect tooling, perform quality checks, and ensure safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, are followed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a manufacturing or machining environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• High School Diploma or GED (trade school preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain CNC grinders, lathes, Bridgeport mills, welders, plasma cutters.
• Perform tool and die machining using blueprints and precision measuring instruments.
• Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, pumps, and production equipment.
• Refurbish and rebuild tooling for can-making machinery.
• Measure and calculate raw material requirements.
• Catalog and organize production tooling for efficiency.
• Perform quality checks and ensure tolerances.
• Follow lockout/tagout safety procedures.
• Operate forklifts, lifts, and booms.
