Job summary

Production Products, Inc. in Columbus Grove, OH is seeking a Tool & Die Maker for the 2nd shift. You will build, repair and troubleshoot dies and tooling, support the press room, and collect SPC data to improve part processing and quality.

Responsibilities include dies from prints, tool setup, and assisting apprentices while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a certified 4 year apprenticeship in Die Making/Tool & Die Making or eight years related experience.
• Experience building and repairing dies and tooling in a factory setting.

Responsibilities

• Build dies and tooling from prints, sketches or references.
• Operate tool room machinery safely during builds.
• Repair dies for progressive, transfer, and manually operated tooling.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot dies on bench and in press.
• Use SPC data to ensure dimensional integrity of dies and parts.
• Support press room operations and die changeovers.
• Assist apprentices and provide guidance on daily tasks.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety compliance.

Description

This is a 2nd shift position.

Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and Team Leader, the Tool & Die Maker is responsible for building, repairing, and troubleshooting tool and dies in a factory setting, supporting the press room during die sets, and collecting and analyzing data to improve part processing and quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF TOOL & DIE MAKER:

• Build tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.


• Operate tool room machinery in a safe manner during the build process.


• Perform tool and die repairs on progressive dies, transfer dies, manually operated dies, and tooling.


• Diagnose and trouble shoot dies on the bench and in the press to make corrections.


• Work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make corrections as required to produce quality parts.


• Support try out and make ready to run production after die steel or tool installations.


• Support press room operations by servicing die sets, trouble shoot dies and make corrections when possible with die in the press, and through using SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and document.


• Interface with both internal and external customers, participate on problem solving teams in production, and handling customer and supplier concerns.


• Support SPECS, TQM, MOS, and Safety programs. Also responsible for practicing good housekeeping standards.


• Authorized to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system.


• Authorized to support and assist Tool & Die Apprentices in day to day operations.


• Assist Production with changing die in press includes power vehicle and die cart operation, install of t-bolts.


• Welding tools as required including TIG, MIG, and Stick welding application.


• Performs other essential functions as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or the equivalent, completion of a certified 4 year apprenticeship program in Die Making and/or Tool & Die Making, or eight years experience/or equivalent background in a Tool/Die shop building tools and dies.
