Job summary

Ascent Aerospace, LLC in Santa Ana, CA, seeks a Tool Builder/Bencher to accurately deburr and surface finish tooling and parts per customer requirements under shop supervision. You will use basic finishing techniques, hand and air tools, and manual inspection methods to ensure tight tolerances and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a metal and/or composite finishing environment.
  • Able to hand finish to +/- 0.0025” surface tolerance and finish using basic Laser Tracker Techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of finishing techniques for different materials.
  • Knowledge of air tools and various hand tools for metal and composite tool finishing.
  • Ability to fix tools with Out of Tolerance Condition.
  • Ability to use manual inspection equipment and inspection techniques.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under shop supervision, the Tool Builder/Bencher is responsible for accurately and efficiently deburring and surface finishing tooling and parts manufactured to customer requirements.


REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:



  • 2+ years of experience working in a metal and/or composite finishing environment

  • Be able to hand finish tight tolerance +/- 0.0025” surface tolerance and finish using basic Laser Tracker Techniques

  • Thorough understanding of finishing techniques necessary for different materials

  • Thorough knowledge of air tools and various hand tools used in metal and composite tool finishing

  • Ability to fix tools with Out of Tolerance Condition

  • Ability to use manual inspection equipment and inspection techniques

  • Must provide own tools

  • This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a \"US Person\" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience with vacuum and helium test tools

  • Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints

  • Forklift and crane operating skills and certification

  • Occasional local travel during the business day

  • May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands

  • Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.

  • Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area
