Role Summary
- To build, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and all other tooling related to the manufacture and assembly of stamped, roll formed, and welded steel automobile components.
Key Responsibilities
- Work to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to repair and maintain dies and assembly tooling
- Support production department with tooling needs; respond to shop-floor calls in a timely manner
- Assure safe operation and care of tool room equipment
- Produce quality work in a timely manner
- Assess complex tooling and equipment needs and refurbish as required
- Troubleshoot and solve tooling problems without assistance
- Set up and operate all tool room equipment with no assistance (with exception of CNC equipment)
- Work to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap
- Housekeeping and other activities as assigned
- Ability to lead continuous improvement and emergency repair projects individually or within a team
- Must be willing to share knowledge of the trade and train apprentices
