Qualifications

Are you looking to be a part of a growing Tool Room? We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Tool and Die Maker at Nordic Ware in our expanding Tool Making department. As a Tool and Die Maker you will plan, layout and perform machining operations and bench work to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, attachments, machining, molds and gauges. If you enjoy working with your hands and have a general interest in mechanics, come join this fun, friendly and collaborative team!

What you will get to do:

  1. Perform die assembly and fitting of new and existing tools.
  2. Work from parts, prints or sketches and verbal instructions, to create parts for tools, replacement parts and factory equipment.
  3. Set up and operate a variety of machines, including lathes, drill presses, milling machines, and grinders, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  4. Perform bench operations involving project planning and final assembly of material.
  5. Perform rework on worn or damaged parts.
  6. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production tools including dies, molds, fixtures and factory equipment during production.
  7. Work with department leads to resolve problems that arise in various departments with machines, dies, tools, etc.
  8. Perform preventive maintenance on production tooling and equipment.
  9. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with department team members and other department Managers and Supervisors to ensure all production requirements are met, to promote most efficient operations for all departments, and to ensure company goals are achieved.
  10. Comply with plant safety rules, policies and regulations and maintain clean and orderly work area.
  11. Use floor jacks, die lifts, hoist and forklifts to move materials.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. High School diploma or GED required
  2. Manual machine experience required - including drills, milling machines, grinders, lathes
  3. 2+ years tool making experience strongly preferred
  4. Mechanical aptitude
  5. Molding and metal stamping experience strongly preferred.
  6. Accredited Vo-Tech program in Tool and Die making, Industrial Maintenance or equivalent desired
  7. On the job training is provided to familiarize with our production, facility, and supportive equipment.
