Job description

Tool and Die Associate

Shift Available: 2nd (2p-1030p)

Wages Starting at over $40 per hour

To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:

  1. Read and interpret blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
  2. Plan setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feeds and speeds.
  3. Weld repair and heat treatment of different materials including tool steels.
  4. Determine specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining.
  5. Perform hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
  6. Fit and assemble jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
  7. Tear down, repairs and reassembles tooling on the bench or in the press as required.

This full-time hourly role is a part of our Tool and Die Team and reports to the Tool Room Supervisor.

Required experience:

  1. Completion of formal apprenticeship program with journeyman card or equivalent to 8 years’ experience.
  2. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  3. Excellent problem solving skills such as 8D and 5 Whys.
  4. Excellent communication skills as evidenced in associate relations, team skills, and have the ability to interface directly with the customer to resolve issues.
  5. Ability to work independently, self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Excellent attendance record.
