Job summary

NIC Global in Tennessee is seeking a Tool and Die Maker for 2nd shift. You will analyze specifications, lay out stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate products with high precision.

The role requires a high school education or equivalent, 3 years die repair experience, and the ability to verify dimensions using dial indicators, gauge blocks, and micrometers. Wire EDM or CNC Machining Center experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must have 3 years die repair experience.
  • Ability to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances with precision measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of tool and die design, shop mathematics, metal properties, and assembly procedures.
  • Knowledge of welding fixtures on robotic welders.
  • Wire EDM or CNC Machining Center experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate.
  • Repairs metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists hand tools.
  • Applies knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
  • Studies specifications, such as blueprints or descriptions, to determine materials and machines to fabricate parts.
  • Computes dimensions, plan layouts, and determines assembly methods for close tolerances.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Lifts machine parts, positions and secures them on surfaces using vises and angle plates.
  • Ensures surfaces are smooth using scrapers and grinders.
  • Fits and assembles parts with hand tools; verifies dimensions with measuring instruments.

  • Lifts machine parts manually, uses hoists and positions and secures parts on surface plate of worktable using devices such as vises, V-blocks, and angle plates.
  • Ensures surfaces are smooth using scrapers, abrasive stones, and power grinders.
  • Fits and assembles parts together using hand tools.
  • Verifies dimensions alignments and clearances using measuring instruments.
