Job summary

D&N Bending in Romeo, MI is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to build, repair and maintain dies and tooling for our automotive customers. You will read blueprints, inspect parts and select materials and machines to meet specifications.

Day shift, 6am–4:30pm, with Saturdays as needed. Competitive pay from $23 to $30 per hour plus comprehensive benefits including health, vision, dental, PTO, 401K and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of tool and die building experience.
• Experience in construction and tryout of hard and soft tooling.
• Knowledge of ISO standards preferred.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and stand 8–10 hours.
• Blueprint reading proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate tool room equipment safely and in accordance with OSHA standards and company procedures.
• Perform die maintenance including rebuilding die sections, inserts and forms.
• Read blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions to determine materials and tooling.
• Assist in continuous improvement activities and support management.
• Drive and maintain accuracy, safety and efficiency of tooling operations.

Job description

he tool maker's primary purpose is to ensure tools and dies are built, maintained and repaired in a timely fashion. The tool maker reports directly to the tool room foreman for assignment of duties and is expected to track and document all work performed.Responsibilities for Tool Maker:Operate tool room equipment safely and efficiently and in accordance with OSHA standards and company proceduresPerform extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, inserts and forms and engineering changes on all types of dies, fixtures, gages or other tooling needsRead and understand specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions, and visualize product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts, build tooling, and meet customer requirementsDemonstrate good short and long term decision making in these areas:Press Room troubleshootingDiagnosis of problem and courses of actionTool Room machining practicesPerforms all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to OSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc.)Participates in continuous improvement activitiesAssumes other duties as directed by managementWe are a well established company with over 60 years in the automotive industry.
