Job summary

ABB is seeking a skilled Tool Room Machinist to join our Ormond Beach manufacturing team. You will fabricate and maintain tooling for production, including punch press tooling and injection molds, using Bridgeport mills, lathes, grinders and Sinker EDM.

You will read drawings and ensure tight tolerances while supporting continuous improvement with engineering and production. The role emphasizes hands-on machining, tool fabrication, and quality control in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a tool room machinist or similar role.
• Hands-on proficiency with Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, and Sinker EDM.
• Experience in punch press tool fabrication.
• Working knowledge of injection mold maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and maintain punch press tooling, including dies, punches, and related components.
• Perform injection mold maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Operate and set up machine tools including Bridgeport Mills, Manual Lathes, Surface Grinders, Sinker EDM.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards throughout machining operations.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Tool Room Machinist

About the Role

ABB is seeking a skilled and experienced Tool Room Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tooling and equipment critical to our production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate and maintain punch press tooling, including dies, punches, and related components
• Perform injection mold maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
• Operate and set up a variety of machine tools including:
  • Bridgeport Mills
  • Manual Lathes
  • Surface Grinders
  • Sinker EDM
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards throughout all machining operations
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in a tool room machinistor similar role
• Hands-on proficiency with Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, and Sinker EDM
• Demonstrated experience in punch press tool fabrication
• Working knowledge of injection mold maintenance and repair
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CNC mill and/or lathe programming, setup and operation.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
• Vocational/technical training or apprenticeship in machining or tool & die
