Job summary

Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Tool Management Services Engineer with IT interface skills to drive tooling programs, manage projects, and support equipment software for Tool Room/Cutter Grind operations.

You will work with IS&S, leverage MS Office, Excel, Power BI, and SAP/Maximo, applying cost-conscious tooling strategies while collaborating across disciplines to improve manufacturing efficiency.

These projects are designed/created for overall improvements to cost of machining. In addition, knowledge of inventory management. This role requires some knowledge a multitude of machining processes including turning, milling, grinding, broaching, hobbing, and honing.Responsibilities:Lead and manage new and current projects.Interface with internal and external IS&S to support Tool Management programs and processes.· Support tooling issues in manufacturing plants as they relate to inventory, cost, procurement, forecasting and consumption.· Analyze process elements for improved tooling capability and reduce cost.· Be well-versed in the financial side of tooling. Be able to manage tool cost to a budget and document variances.· Able to work effectively with others outside the work group, including commodity managers.· Provide a physical presence on the production floor and support services areas.· Computer literacy (MS Office, Power BI and very proficient in Excel) and able to learn and master Maximo, SAP programs.· Ability to learn new software and interface quickly.Education Requirement:Bachelor Degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent experienceExperience:Minimum 1-3 years’ experience required.High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.Direct manufacturing experience with an emphasis on metal cutting.Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing process and equipment.Proficiency with computer software programs (MS Office, very proficient in Excel and Power BI) and adaptability for other systems.Good written and oral communication skills.The ability to work effectively in a group setting.The ability to work independently from inception to conclusion, and a willingness to seek counsel on difficult and complex issues.The ability to multitask effectively.The ability to take on new tasks and roles.Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
