The Caterpillar San Diego location is seeking a Tool and Cutter Grinder to set up and operate grinders to sharpen and form cutters. You will plan operation sequences and select grinding wheels, fixtures, and machine settings to meet tool specs.

Responsibilities include disassembly and reassembly of gang mills, checking finished tools vs tolerances, and presetting tools for CNC machines. Overtime may be required.

Formación

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent required.
• Knowledge of gauges such as calipers, bore micrometers and dial indicators.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints for datum lines and tolerances.
• Understand GD&T and measuring devices; use advanced shop math.

Responsabilidades

• Plan operation sequence, grinding method, and setup by examining tool condition and part blueprint.
• Operate tool and cutter grinder to grind, form, and sharpen cutters per specs.
• Select and install fixtures; set speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
• Disassemble and reassemble gang mills for grinding and forming cutters.
• Check finished tools for dimensions, finish, and tolerances; ensure future use of tools.
• Preset tools for CNC machines and broaches; inspect perishable tools.
