Job summary

The Tonto Apache Grant Writer is responsible for researching, writing, submitting, and managing federal grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funding organizations.

The Grant Writer works closely with Tribal leadership and program staff to identify funding opportunities, develop compelling narratives, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and maintain positive relationships with funders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s preferred in a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of grant writing experience preferred.
  • Certification: CGW or similar preferred.
  • Experience with PL 93-638 contracts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, grant tracking systems, and fundraising databases.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, submit, and manage federal grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funders.
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop compelling narratives with Tribal leadership and staff.
  • Ensure grant compliance and maintain positive relationships with funders.
  • Occasionally appear before the Tribal council; on-site for fact finding and meetings as needed; remote work schedule when possible.

Job description

The Tonto Apache Grant writer is responsible for researching, writing, submitting, and managing federal grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funding organizations. The Grant Writer works closely with Tribal lll leadership and program staff to identify funding opportunities, develop compelling narratives, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and maintain positive relationships with funders.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer with strong research skills to obtain federal, state, and private grant opportunities along with organizational and project management skills and a proven track record of securing federal grant funding.

The Tribal Grant Writer should anticipate appearing in person before the Tribal council on occasion as well as being on-site for fact finding and meetings with funding agencies, as needed. Otherwise, the position offers a flexible, result-oriented remote work schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field required.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of grant writing experience preferred.
  • Certiations: Certified Grant Writer (CGW) or similar professional certification is preferred.
  • Proven success securing grants from government agencies, foundations, corporations, or community organizations.
  • Experience with PL 93-638 contracts.
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, virtual collaboration tools, grant tracking systems, and fundraising databases.
