Job summary

Little Sprouts Learning Center in North Guilford, CT is seeking a caring Toddler Teacher to join our small, nonprofit early childhood team. You will work alongside a co‑teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where toddlers learn through play and daily routines.

The role emphasizes social‑emotional development, hands‑on care, and strong communication with families. We value patience, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with young children.

Qualifications

• Must meet Connecticut OEC requirements for employment in a licensed child care program.
• Experience working with toddlers or young children preferred.
• Must be caring, patient, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a teaching team.
• Ability to provide attentive, hands‑on care throughout the day, including diapering/toileting, meals, rest time, indoor activities, and outdoor play.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Must complete all required background checks and OEC Registry requirements.
• CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration (MAT), and Mandated Reporter training preferred.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of working with toddlers, including sitting on the floor, bending, lifting, and actively participating in classroom and outdoor activities.
• A positive attitude, flexibility, and a genuine desire to support young children’s development are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where toddlers can learn, play, and grow, working with a co‑teacher to plan age‑appropriate activities.
• Support children’s social‑emotional development and guide them through daily routines including meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, and outdoor play.
• Build positive relationships with children and families; communicate about each child’s day and development; maintain a clean, organized classroom; and collaborate with the teaching team.
