Job summary

Open Door Preschools in Austin, TX seeks a compassionate Toddler Teacher to foster play-based learning and supportive development. You will guide children through curious, child-led experiences in a warm classroom, collaborating with co-teachers and engaging families.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma with early childhood education experience or a degree in progress, and is committed to diversity and reflective teaching practices. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with toddlers in a play-based setting.
• Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice and social-emotional learning.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and reflective teaching practices.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, inclusive, and safe classroom environment where children feel respected, supported, and empowered.
• Plan and implement child-led, play-based experiences that promote exploration, problem-solving, creativity, and independence.
• Support the whole child by integrating social-emotional learning into daily routines and play.
• Observe, document, and reflect on children’s development to inform curriculum planning and family communication.
• Collaborate with co-teachers to design engaging, responsive learning experiences that follow children’s interests.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with families through open communication and partnership.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to NAEYC/TRS 4-Star accreditation standards.
