GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Program Director and/or Coordinator, the Teacher is responsible for meeting the developmental needs of children birth to five years of age in a group setting. Responsibilities include supervising, educating, and supporting students to help them accomplish learning benchmarks. Duties include planning lessons that target developmentally appropriate skills and concepts aligned with the approved curriculum, managing classroom behavior to keep students engaged, providing individual support and feedback, conducting student assessments, facilitating parent-teacher conferences, and maintaining parent relationships for enrolled students. Teachers are responsible for daily attendance and guide assistant teachers, classroom aides, and volunteers.

1. Communicate the YMCA’s mission, vision, and values effectively

3. Greet parents by name upon arrival and departure
4. Report concerns to the Program Director
5. Conduct teacher conferences twice yearly or as needed
6. Facilitate and participate in classroom activities

Classroom Organization:
1. Manage classroom supplies and equipment safely and organized
2. Maintain a conducive environment for smooth transitions and independent learning
3. Keep all classroom areas tidy and well-organized
4. Follow cleaning schedules and safety policies
5. Display children’s work and postings neatly
6. Be familiar with risk management procedures
7. Keep an inventory of classroom materials and supplies
Strong Community Campaign:
1. Participate actively in the annual campaign, including donation solicitation and impact tours
