Job summary

Weymouth in Charlotte, MI is seeking a dedicated Toddler Assistant Teacher to support lead teachers and create a safe, engaging classroom for children aged 1-3.

In this full-time role, you will implement daily activities, monitor safety, communicate with families, and participate in staff development to grow teaching skills.

A high school diploma is required; coursework in early childhood education is preferred; CPR/First Aid may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience with toddlers or young children in a childcare or educational setting.
• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children and families.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from lead teachers.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Background check clearance as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities for toddlers.
• Create a warm, welcoming, and safe classroom environment for all children.
• Supervise and engage with children during playtime, meals, and naptimes.
• Support individual children's needs and adapt activities for diverse learning styles.
• Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging independence and self-esteem.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding progress and concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom with age-appropriate materials.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
• Assist in documenting children's progress and development through observations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive team environment.
