Job description

Summary

Ascension Episcopal Day School is currently accepting applications for a part-time Afternoon Assistant Teacher in our 1-year-old Toddler classroom.Work hours are 12:00 to 5:45.

Ascension Day School serves pre-school children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years. Our program is designed to cultivate the cognitive, social, physical, creative, and emotional development of each child in a caring educational environment. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for helping the Lead Teacher develop and maintain a nurturing and creative learning community for 12 children. This is a school not a daycare and expectations for quality interactions between teachers and students is high. Starting pay is $15 per hour.


Duties

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Actively engage with students in their play and activities.

Follow staff policies and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment to include cleaning and sterilizing the classroom and materials throughout the day.

Assist in maintaining attendance and classroom records.

Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information and ideas on a continuous basis.

Work to improve teaching and professional skills by attending workshops and trainings.

Consistently maintain open and friendly relationships with each child's family.

Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications (preferred):

Experience working with young children, especially in an early education center.

Some training in early education or a related field.

Effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.

Must love working with children and be able to maintain a positive, professional attitude including the ability to work effectively with a team of other teachers (required).
