Job Description

Northbrook Montessori is located in Northbrook, Illinois on 135 Sanders Rd. We are searching for Assistant Teachers & floaters working with 0-3 year old students.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in teaching in a high-quality Montessori environment. For Assistant Teachers: Montessori experience of any kind is a plus but not required. IL DCFS lead teacher qualification is preferred. Experience working and/or caring for children in some capacity is required.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  1. Must be willing to take direction from lead teacher, administration, and other staff members
  2. Ability to commit to schedule and assist when needed
  3. Communicate effectively and peacefully with students, lead teacher, administration, and other staff members
  4. Assist and maintain a peaceful and mindful learning environment for students
  5. Assist in the arrival and dismissal of students
  6. Supervise students during work cycle, recess, nap, and/or other activities throughout the day
  7. Participate in required professional development and training programs throughout the year
  8. Observe student behaviors and step in when appropriate
  9. Submit and maintain student records on Kangarootime
  10. Assist in preparing snack and lunch for students
  11. Comfortable with diapering, toilet training, and/or changing student's clothes
  12. Attend and participate in meetings and training when needed
  13. Assist in preparing, creating, organizing, and cleaning the classroom environment and materials daily
  14. Consistently communicate student progress or concerns with the lead teacher, administration, and other staff when appropriate
  15. Comfortable with receiving feedback from lead teacher and administration
  16. Flexible with shifting work hours to secure coverage for the day
  17. Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements Include:

  1. Submit 3 reference letters upon hire
  2. Willing to stand for long periods of time
  3. Ability to lift 30lbs
  4. Ability to move from seated to standing position quickly to attend to student's needs
  5. Ability to pass a background check and TB test
  6. Minimum education of a High School Diploma
