National Jewish Health is seeking a Tobacco Cessation Health Coach to support the Keep It Sacred Program, a national initiative helping individuals improve their health by reducing or quitting commercial tobacco use. This role provides one-on-one coaching, education, and behavior change support to participants across the United States through phone and online interactions. Coaches on our team workclosely with participants to develop personalized quit plans, build confidence, and achieve lasting lifestyle changes using evidence‑based cessation strategies and motivational interviewing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tobacco cessation coaching and support through phone and online interactions.
• Utilize motivational interviewing and behavior change techniques to assist participants in achieving their health goals.
• Develop individualized quit plans and educate participants on available cessation resources and treatment options.
• Build rapport and maintain positive participant relationships that encourage engagement and long‑term success.
• Accurately document participant assessments, interactions, and outcomes in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement activities to maintain expertise in evidence‑based tobacco cessation practices.

This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reside in Colorado, Hawaii, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, New York, Wisconsin or California.

Position Summary
This position obtains participant details and provides assessment, counseling, education and behavioral intervention to tobacco users. This position directly assists cultural groups by using motivational interviewing techniques in deciding whether to make a quit attempt, obtaining and using cessation medicine and staying abstinent from tobacco products. Counseling is conducted over the phone and/or through the internet with participants.

• Completes and intakes questionnaire with participants to verify program eligibility. Documents participant data in compliance with HIPAA requirements, departmental standards and specific client guidelines.
• Maintains friendly, confident, open, and effective communication with participants to identify program eligibility and inspire continued participation. Assists participants to help determine participant’s goals, readiness to change, and supports the behavior change.
• Educates and coaches a diverse population of participants in quitting tobacco by following motivational interviewing techniques. Explains Health Initiatives programs to participants, builds rapport, and engages callers following guidelines, protocols and scripting.
• Engages in a process of continuous training, learning, and professional growth including QA scores and feedback to ensure delivery of the latest evidence‑based practices, content knowledge and skills.
• May lead assigned projects or tasks.
• Maintains call center metrics and individual performance standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Work Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a health coach preferred.
• Special Training, Certification or Licensure:Familiarity in the American Indian community highly preferred.

Salary Range: $20.69 - $24.00. Candidates who are bilingual speaking Spanish will receive an additional $1.00/hour language differential.
