Job summary

Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) is seeking a Technician II - Synthesis to maintain standard work in the Plate and Column Synthesis lab, producing oligos and managing crude material inventory. The role is on-site in Coralville, IA, with weekend night shifts and close coordination with the TNFRP team.

The candidate will operate synthesizers, use liquid handling robots, and ensure transfer of quality products for customer use while managing lab workflow and troubleshooting instrument issues.

Qualifications

  • Associate's (2 year) degree or comparable combination of education and experience required.
  • Prior IDT synthesis experience
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Excel/Outlook/Power BI and liquid handling robotics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate synthesizers and produce high-quality oligos.
  • Utilize liquid handling robots and other lab machinery for high-throughput production.
  • Process and transfer quality products for customer use.
  • Organize and prioritize lab workflow as directed by management.

The Technician II - Synthesis role is responsible for maintaining and completing standard work processes within the Plate and Column Synthesis lab including oligo production, crude material inventory management, and troubleshooting instrumentation.

This position reports to the TNFRP Weekend Midshift Supervisor and is part of the Standard Desalt Tubes and Formulated Research Products Value Stream located in Coralville and will be an on-site role. This position will be onsite Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7 pm to 7:30 am.

Responsibilities
  • Operate synthesizers and utilize organic chemistries to daily produce high-quality oligos
  • Utilize liquid handling robots and additional, customized laboratory machinery to drive high through put production.
  • Process and transfer quality products for customer use.
  • Organize and prioritize the workflow in the lab as directed by management.
  • Troubleshoot issues by identifying and reporting problems that may arise throughout the process.
  • Identify instrument problems to submit and follow up on work orders when necessary.
Essential Requirements
  • Associate's (2 year) degree or comparable combination of education and experience required.
  • Prior IDT synthesis experience
  • It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: SAP software Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Power Bi Liquid handling robot use and troubleshooting Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements

Occasional (33% or less of work day) Sitting: to assume a position in which the weight is largely supported by the buttocks, usually with the body vertical and the thighs horizontal. Bending: bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist and/or bending leg; bending legs at knee to come to rest or kneel. Pushing/Pulling: using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward/using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Climbing: stairs, stools, ramps, ladders. Visual Acuity: Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors. Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment. Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
