Job summary

Prestage Farms in Eagle Grove, Iowa, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to assist with repairs and maintenance of equipment in a food manufacturing facility. This role includes the completion of installs, tests, and the participation in continuous improvement strategies to minimize downtime.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with reducing downtime and increase efficiencies when completing repairs and maintenance equipment.
• Work toward accomplishing objectives regarding production, technology, and resource needs.
• Complete all assigned installs, test, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
• Assist with strategies to reduce mechanical downtime and keep product flow and production.
• Participate in all maintenance training to keep up with the most updated version of operating procedures.
• Assist when possible with the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime and anticipate problems to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Complete maintenance KPIs such as asset utilization and maintenance cost PM, and are finalized as scheduled.
• Follow all safety, health, and environmental policies while maintaining equipment. Any other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or knowledge equivalent.
• Must have 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a food manufacturing facility.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Thorough knowledge of world-class maintenance management systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, etc.
• Demonstrates required skills; adapts to new technologies; troubleshoots technological problems; uses technology to increase productivity; keeps technical skills up to date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and customers.
• Ability to plan work on a daily schedule, work independently and be a highly motivated individual.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and apply those concepts to practical situations.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
