Job summary

HDR is seeking a TMT Construction Manager to lead construction activities within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group in North Carolina. You will maintain records, review submittals, prepare change orders, and monitor schedules and budgets while coordinating with Owner, Engineer, and Contractor teams.

The role requires 2+ years in construction planning/management, proficiency in MS Office and construction management software, and a commitment to our employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or related field.
  • 2+ years experience in construction planning and management, including field engineering, submittals, estimating, scheduling, and site safety.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Visa sponsorship for US employment is not available now or in the future for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate daily record of construction site activity and produce required reports on progress, safety, quality, permit compliance, schedule and budget status.
  • Review construction submittals including shop drawings and pay applications
  • Prepare, issue and negotiate Change Orders
  • Review and analyze baseline and updated construction schedules
  • Coordinate with other project team members including the Owner, Engineer, and Contractor
  • Work individually or supporting more-senior staff on larger, more complex projects
  • Assist with verification of subcontractor compliance with Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections
  • Coordinate with other project team groups such as design, procurement and accounting.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
  • Travel 50% to 100% for meetings, site visits, and inspections at the project site in Indiana
  • Possibility for long term project assignments
  • Perform other duties as needed

In the role of TMT Construction Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Maintain accurate daily record of construction site activity and produce required reports on progress, safety, quality, permit compliance, schedule and budget status.

  • Prepare, issue and negotiate Change Orders
  • Review and analyze baseline and updated construction schedules
  • Coordinate with other project team members including the Owner, Engineer, and Contractor
  • Work individually or supporting more-senior staff on larger, more complex projects
  • Assist with the verification of subcontractor compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections
  • Perform routine assignments requiring application of spreadsheets, databases and scheduling software
  • Coordinate with other project team groups such as design, procurement and accounting.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
  • Work may require 50% to 100% travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections at the project site in Indiana.
  • Possibility for Long term project assignments.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Construction or design certifications
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Experience with estimating software, scheduling software, project management software, Google work space and web-based collaboration software for the exchange of documents.
  • Eager to Learn and Ask Questions and Perform new duties as required.
  • Exhibit professionalism with clients
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact with the Owner, Engineer, Contractor and other project stakeholders
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in various aspects of construction planning and management, including field engineering, construction submittals, estimating, scheduling, and site safety
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
