Job summary

HDR is seeking a Construction EIT in Texas to support the Construction Manager with project execution and owner-representative activities, ensuring field issues are resolved and design is implemented with the highest standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate, with strong communication and MS Office skills. Travel to projects in Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Montana may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Construction Manager with all facets of project execution.
  • Assist with the administration of one or multiple construction projects as an owner representative.
  • Identify and resolve design and construction issues in the field.
  • Conduct meetings with client and general contractor.
  • Work directly with the client and contractor to meet project needs.
  • Communicate with the project team and client throughout the project.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs on a project.
  • Present job progress and issues in meetings with the client.
  • Prepare daily reports for each project.
  • Review pay documents and process pay documents for payment.
  • Determine change order impacts and negotiate with contractors for cost/time settlements.
  • Prepare change orders with justification and design documentation.
  • Travel to projects as needed.

In the role of Construction EIT, we\'ll count on you to:
  • Assist the Construction Manager with all facets of project execution
  • Assist with the administration of one or multiple construction projects as an owner representative
  • Assist with identifying and resolving design and construction issues in the field.
  • Conduct meetings with client and general contractor.
  • Work directly with the client and contractor to meet the needs of the project.
  • Communicate with the project team and client throughout the project.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs on a project.
  • Present job progress and issues in meetings with the client.
  • Prepare daily reports for each individual project.
  • Review and provide recommendations on contractors\' CPM baseline construction schedules and schedule updates.
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to contractor inquiries, ensuring that contract specifications are met.
  • Coordinate with others to obtain responses to requests for information and other submittals from contractors and keeps a log of such requests.
  • Reviews pay documents and processes pay documents for payment.
  • Determines change order impacts and negotiates with contractors to achieve fair and reasonable cost and time settlements.
  • Prepare change orders including justification, independent cost estimates, and design documentation.
  • Perform other engineering and construction management functions as assigned.
  • Communicate regularly with PM, HDR field staff, and clients.
  • Travel to projects throughout Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Montana may be required.
  • Read, clearly understand and interpret construction drawings
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of construction experience
  • Knowledge of estimating software programs (Timberline ), scheduling software (Primavera P3 or SureTrak ), Bluebeam Revu and project management software (Prolog or Procore )
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong people skills, ability to interact with the design team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
