This role is responsible for translating approved creative concepts into production-ready specifications, ensuring products are executed accurately and consistently from concept through final production.

Working Environment

In‑office 5 days/week with occasional travel or on‑site support required. May involve weekend or extended hours during peak seasons. Very fast-paced, detail-driven environment with a focus on problem‑solving, managing multiple parallel projects and re‑prioritizing tasks as necessary.

What You’ll Do
Technical Design & Product Development
  • Translate approved creative concepts and artwork into comprehensive, production‑ready tech packs.
  • Create and maintain detailed product specifications including garment blanks, materials, measurements, color standards, dye processes, decoration methods, placement specifications, construction details, packaging requirements, and production notes.
  • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, complete, and clearly communicates design intent to vendors and manufacturing partners.
  • Partner closely with Creative and Project Management teams to ensure product execution aligns with approved concepts and brand standards.
  • Serve as the technical expert on garment decoration methods including screen print, embroidery, appliqué, patches, woven labels, DTG, sublimation, and specialty print techniques.
  • Recommend and specify decoration methods that best achieve the intended design while meeting quality, cost, and production requirements.
  • Partner with vendors to troubleshoot production challenges and ensure accurate execution of approved designs.
  • Stay current on emerging decoration techniques, materials, and production capabilities to support product innovation and quality.
Sample Review & Product Approval
  • Own the technical review process for product samples in partnership with Project Management.
  • Evaluate strike‑offs, dye samples, shade bands, pre‑production samples, fit samples, and other production submissions against approved artwork, mockups, and design intent.
  • Provide detailed technical feedback to vendors and manufacturing partners to drive revisions and improvements.
  • Track sample iterations and ensure products reach approval readiness before broader stakeholder review.
  • Maintain consistency and quality standards throughout the sampling and production lifecycle.
Vendor & Production Support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical questions from vendors, factories, and production partners.
  • Troubleshoot product development challenges and provide technical guidance throughout production.
  • Communicate technical requirements, revisions, and approvals clearly and efficiently to external partners.
  • Collaborate with sourcing, production, and operations teams to ensure product specifications can be executed effectively within manufacturing constraints.
Product Integrity & Design Stewardship
  • Interpret and protect the creative intent of artist and brand merchandise throughout development and production.
  • Make informed technical adjustments and micro‑revisions without requiring creative team involvement in every production decision.
  • Balance design intent with manufacturing realities while maintaining product quality and brand standards.
  • Utilize technical expertise and product knowledge to recommend solutions that preserve creative vision while improving execution.
Specification & Knowledge Management
  • Build, organize, and maintain a comprehensive technical specification library for recurring products, silhouettes, and production standards.
  • Establish systems and documentation that reduce redundant development work and improve consistency across programs.
  • Maintain historical records of approved specifications, measurements, materials, and production requirements for future reference.
Documentation & Change Management
  • Ensure technical documentation and tech packs remain current throughout the product development process.
  • Update specifications to reflect approved production changes, revisions, and manufacturing adjustments on priority projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Production teams to capture and document key changes throughout development.
  • Support the creation of scalable processes that improve version control, communication, and technical accuracy across projects.
Who You Are
