Job summary

First American is seeking an Underwriter to support underwriting of title insurance commitments and policies for residential New York properties and commercial transactions. This role requires experience with NY condominium transactions and real estate law, and involves applying underwriting standards within delegated authority.

You will provide guidance to internal teams, collaborate across departments, and help deliver accurate settlement services with strong analytical rigor and communication

Qualifications

• 3 years title underwriting experience, residential New York properties and commercial transactions preferred.
• Familiarity with New York condominium transactions required.
• Must be familiar with real estate law.
• Strong analytical rigor and business acumen.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to convey information tactfully.
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel and customers related to the issuance of title insurance commitments and policies for residential New York properties and commercial transactions.
• Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
• Provide guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services.
