Role Description

This full-time Title Underwriter role is an on-site position located in Syracuse, NY. The Title Underwriter will review title searches and related documentation to identify, analyze, and resolve title issues for residential and commercial transactions. Responsibilities include evaluating risk, determining insurability, preparing and issuing title commitments and policies, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and underwriting standards. The role involves collaborating closely with escrow officers, closers, attorneys, and other real estate professionals to support timely and accurate closings. The Title Underwriter will also provide guidance on complex title matters, maintain detailed records, and contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with title examination and underwriting, including analyzing title searches, reviewing legal descriptions, and resolving title defects.
• Knowledge of real estate law, conveyancing practices, and recording requirements in New York; familiarity with residential and commercial transactions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk, interpret complex documents, and make sound underwriting decisions.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in document review, policy preparation, and data entry.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, customers, and external partners.

• Proficiency with title production systems, document management tools, and common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Previous experience in title insurance, escrow, or real estate closing is preferred; New York Title Insurance License or eligibility to obtain is a plus.
