Job summary

Penn Manor School District in Manor Middle School is seeking a Title I Aide to support students in reading and math during the school day.

This part-time position runs five hours per day, up to 25 hours a week, with 180 days in the school year. Responsibilities include following lesson plans, using assessments, monitoring progress, and communicating with teachers and parents to reinforce learning.

Qualifications

  • Two years of college or an associate degree required.
  • Knowledge of reading and math instruction and assessment.
  • PA School Code knowledge and ability to obtain PA driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize assessment tools to monitor reading and math progress.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress; communicate with teachers and parents.

Principal/Classroom Teacher

Schedule:

Scheduled to work 5hrs per day and not to exceed 25hrs/week.

Summary

Provide support to students in reading including teaching and re-teaching skills, assessing progress, and reinforcing reading strategies. Provide support to students in math, including teaching and re-teaching skills, assessing progress and reinforcing math strategies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Follow lesson plans to instruct and reinforce present reading and math curricula and identify prerequisite foundational skills as needed.
  2. Utilize assessment tools including core phonics, CDT's DIBELS, DRA, QRI, reading tests, math benchmarks, teacher observations, writings, and running records.
  3. Monitor and evaluate student progress in reading and math. Evaluate student strengths and needs including monitoring students' reading comprehension, reinforcing skills and strategies to promote independent reading; and reinforcing skills and strategies to promote independence in math calculations and applications.
  4. Instruct and reinforce vocabulary to aid in understanding and develop background knowledge.
  5. Communicate with teachers concerning student progress and curriculum.
  6. Evaluate student progress and communicate with teachers and parents.
  7. Provide input on student progress for Instructional Support Team meetings and Multidisciplinary Evaluations.
  8. Provide supplemental materials to support students and classroom teachers.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications
  • Must have completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (transcripts required); OR obtain an associate's (or higher) degree
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations needed
  • Knowledge of Public School Code
  • Valid PA Driver's license and /or access to independent transportation
  • Pre-employment requirements as designated by the PA School Code
Physical Requirements and Sensory Abilities
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist
  • Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
  • Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
  • Considerable bending and twisting of the body required
  • Some stooping and squatting required
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, or move throughout the building for extended periods.
