Job description

Position Summary

The Title IX Investigator will investigate and resolve complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence, involving undergraduate and graduate students at the University. Lead intakes and conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations in response to complaints filed with the Office of Equal Opportunity or other partner University organizations. Provide detailed, unbiased reports that may inform judicial action or proceedings at the University. Create and participate in trainings to educate the University community on policy, laws and regulations, and reporting obligations. This role reports to the Executive Director, Office of Equal Opportunity/Title IX Coordinator.

Qualifications

Required:

Juris Doctor (JD) or Master’s Degree in a relevant field and at least two years' professional experience conducting investigations related to sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and/or gender-related violence in a higher-education setting or other related field. Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving, interviewing, and investigation. Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues. Excellent critical thinking skills, including the demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges while maintaining strict confidentiality and sensitivity. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally across multiple constituencies to resolve complaints in a neutral, sensitive manner. Demonstrated knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations (including Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA, and FERPA) and due process protections as they apply to Student Conduct policies.

Preferred:

Master's degree in higher education administration or applicable field and experience in student affairs, including the administration of student judicial matters. Title IX Investigator training certification (as administered by the Association of Title IX Administrators or other similar organization) or ability to obtain such certification within 60 days of employment.
