Job summary

Chicago Title Insurance Company is seeking a Title Insurance Underwriter to review, analyze, and underwrite real estate transactions to determine insurability and issue title commitments and policies. The position is in-office in Winston-Salem, with responsibilities that include guidance to escrow, closing, sales, and legal teams, and ongoing training and documentation

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in title insurance underwriting or related field
• Strong understanding of real estate transactions including acquisitions and refinances
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Underwrite title insurance commitments, endorsements, and policies per guidelines
• Review title searches, surveys, recorded documents, and property issues
• Identify defects, risks, exceptions, and develop solutions to clear or insure complex matters
• Draft and approve policy exceptions, requirements, endorsements, and underwriting provisions
• Provide underwriting guidance to escrow, closing, sales, and legal teams
• Communicate underwriting decisions and risk mitigations with clients and attorneys
• Interpret contracts and loan documents for underwriting purposes
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and applicable laws
• Assist with training and mentoring staff
• Maintain accurate documentation and timely issuance of commitments and policies
