Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and regulations.
  4. Maintain standards of pupil behavior and establish classroom management procedures.
  5. Assess and record students’ progress, report to parents as needed, and evaluate within legal and district guidelines.
  6. Teach the prescribed course of study at the appropriate grade level.
  7. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives, including written lesson plans for substitutes.
  8. Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  9. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  10. Be available for counseling before and after school and participate in community activities like open house and PTA meetings.
  11. Coordinate work of aides and student teachers as applicable.
  12. Participate in evaluation processes and maintain accurate student records.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned and ensure punctual attendance.
Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel within the district is required. Remote work is not an option due to the necessity of regular attendance at the worksite.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and valid Texas teacher certification with endorsements for the subject and level.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, classroom management, and current educational developments.
