Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Title 1a Paraprofessional to assist in remedial education for elementary students in reading and mathematics under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Responsibilities include supporting instructional activities, coordinating schedules, attending conferences, and aiding family engagement. Strong communication, organization, and knowledge of education policies are required. Recess and lunch supervision duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an accredited institution (60 semester hours) or
• An associate degree from an accredited institution or
• Passing a state academic assessment in reading/writing and math.

Responsibilities

• Support lessons or instructional activities designed with the classroom teacher.
• Develop a schedule for delivery of instructional services.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences and Family Nights as needed.
• Participate in planning time with teachers and others.
• Communicate with parents under the teacher's direction.
• Assist parents in understanding assignments and procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and committees.
• Attend in-services to enhance teaching skills.
• Perform recess and lunch supervision.
