Job summary

Davenport Community School District is seeking a dedicated educator to implement district reading and math curricula and provide targeted interventions. The role emphasizes collaboration, professional development participation, and strong communication with students, families, and staff.

The successful candidate will support MTSS and PBIS initiatives, maintain intervention records, and contribute to a positive learning environment across building leadership and grade level teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students.
  • Knowledge of Google Docs and general computer/technology knowledge.
  • Familiarity with middle school practices.
  • Experience differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Endorsements in reading or mathematics.

  • Implement Davenport Community School District reading and math curriculum
  • Will provide interventions as needed.
  • Attend and provide all building professional development
  • Participate fully as a productive team member.
  • Implement building and district elementary and middle level initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Implement components of Trinity Lutheran Learning Plan.
  • Willingness to participate in grade level PLC
  • Able to implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of a diverse learning community.
  • Ability to establish a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to collaboratively solve problems, work with building leadership team in designing and implementing agreed upon interventions.
  • Ability to communicate growth and learning to parents in writing and verbal communication.
  • Ability to keep records of interventions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule and work environment.
  • Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
  • Skilled, understands and utilizes MTSS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable
  • Skilled, understands and utilizes PBIS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable
  • Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics Endorsement Required: [148].

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
  • Able to assist with outside supervision year round.

  • Knowledge of Google Docs
  • Good computer/technology knowledge
  • Knowledgeable about middle level practices.
  • Experience with students who have learning challenges such as short term memory concerns, attention deficit, dyslexia, dysgraphia
  • Demonstrated knowledge of differentiation of instruction necessary to meet needs of diverse student community; evidence such knowledge has been implemented successfully in prior experience.
  • Reading or mathematics endorsements
