JOB TITLE: Title I Intervention Specialist WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Campus Principal PAY GRADE: Salary Schedule- Teacher

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The campus Title I Intervention Specialist serves as part of the school’s leadership team: providing specialized instruction to identified struggling students receiving services through the response to intervention process, monitoring student progress through quantitative and qualitative measures and participating in Student Success Plan (SSP) meetings to provide recommendations regarding adjustments to student instructional plans. In addition to providing support for PreK-8 struggling students in a small group or individual setting, he/she will provide professional development and guidance for teachers to improve their knowledge of differentiating instructional strategies and monitoring/adjusting said practices to appropriately measure student progress in the classroom.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Texas teacher’s certification
  • 3 years of classroom experience
  • Reading and/or Math Specialist certification, preferred
  • Valid Texas Bilingual/ESL – Spanish Certificate/Endorsement, preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of Texas Assessment Program, district curriculum, and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the RtI process and district documentation process
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of intervention techniques and programs to accelerate the development of early literacy skills
  • Ability to use the computer proficiently for word processing, development of presentations and record keeping
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to model instructional techniques/strategies
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Minimum Experience

Minimum 3 years of Classroom experience as a teacher

Major Responsibilities And Duties

  • Provide daily focused instruction in small group math or literacy settings in a push-in model for struggling students.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining progress monitoring records and anecdotal information as required by the SSP committee in order to effectively measure student progress while participating in given interventions.
  • Use a variety of assessments and monitoring tools to help diagnose and prescribe individual students needs as well as monitor the progress of individual students daily and throughout the year.
  • Participate in purposeful planning with teachers in specified PLC’s and grade level meetings to assist teachers in identifying and serving students in need of intervention.
  • Participate in all required interventionist Specialist professional developments and district level meetings. The Title I Intervention Specialist is charged with acquiring the knowledge, skills, technology skills, and instructional intervention strategies necessary to effectively impact student achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with the Curriculum and Instruction Coordinators and Title I Academic Specialists.
  • Meet regularly with the school administration to keep them abreast of student progress.
  • Actively pursue opportunities for life-long learning and professional growth.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and legal/local board policies.
  • Other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the principal.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
