Job summary

Omaha Public Schools King Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional under Title 1 funding. Work August through May while students are in session.

The paraprofessional will assist the classroom teacher(s) and other support personnel, monitor student progress, and maintain records. Salary starts at $19.10 per hour with a 7.0 hour workday and a 10-month calendar.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 semester hours/72 quarter hours, or proficiency via competency test.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps, and reach overhead.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and in-service trainings.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Model appropriate behaviors for students.
• Develop and maintain a professional rapport with teachers and staff.
• Assist students at arrival and dismissal.
• Supervise students during lunch and recess periods.
• Assist with grading and reviewing homework as instructed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist teachers in monitoring, collecting data and maintaining records.
• Perform routine classroom management and maintenance duties.
