Job Description - Title I-ESL Teacher (Grades: K-4)
Description
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, with written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
- Implement a student evaluation system within the guidelines prescribed by state law or district policies.
- Continuously evaluate and record students’ progress, reporting to parents as needed.
- Teach the prescribed curriculum for the subject area at the grade level.
- Plan lessons aligned with subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
- Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school.
- Participate in community engagement activities like open house and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
- Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
- Work with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment procedures as per district guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of student information and complete all required reports and documentation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
Work Environment:
The noise level is usually moderate. Travel across the district is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based employees, as attendance and presence at the worksite are essential.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks efficiently.
- Ability to present subject matter according to state and district guidelines.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments.
- Willingness to stay current with professional developments.
